How are our servers powered and cooled with renewable energy?  We have selected a special facility to house our servers.  This facility has invested in Green e-certified Renewable Energy Credits (RECs).  These RECs are verified, tracked and monitored. 

How does RECs count toward green hosting?  The facility where our servers are purchased has purchased wind RECs, which basically pays a windfarm to generate renewable energy.  Neither Green Planet Servers, nor the facility that houses our servers owns the windfarm.  For every REC purchased the windfarm generates 1 megawatt of wind power and puts it into the grid.  When our servers draws power from the grid, the facility can then claim credit for that wind power generated.
